How to Prep For Black Friday & Cyber Monday as an eCommerce Seller

BUSINESS INSURANCE

Nov 17, 2022

As we enter one of the busiest shopping seasons for eCommerce business owners and sellers, big sales days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday are incredibly important to take advantage of. Foxquilt knows this is a busy time for small eCommerce business owners, so we have done the work for you and compiled a quick list of tips to keep you organized while making this a successful Black Friday! This year, Black Friday occurs on November 25th, 2022 and Cyber Monday is the following Monday, November 28th, 2022.

Now, how do you prepare for this? Take a look below:

Make sure your website is ready to go!

  • Optimize your website to prepare for the incoming website traffic so your customers (and yourself!) won’t be stuck getting a 404 error during their shopping experience or when they are checking out. Fast loading times and smooth website interfaces are going to make your customers easily purchase what they want and suggest it to others through word-of-mouth. Making your website mobile-friendly is a must in this day and age of eCommerce.
  • Create a landing page specifically for your Black Friday deals, highlighting Internet-breaking savings and products. This will make sure your customers are led into the right direction and spend more time viewing the right pages on your website. SEO optimization is incredibly important at this stage since it will allow your website to appear in many search results!

You don’t have to wait to share your deals

  • Get ahead of the eCommerce rush by sending out your deals a week or couple of days in advance through emails or mobile notifications from your customer database. Customized newsletters and emails calling out your deals before the rush will encourage loyal customers to plan their shopping day with your business in mind, even if they don’t purchase from you straight away.

Leverage your social media platforms

  • More and more time is being spent online than ever; 2020 and 2021 showed no signs of decreased online purchasing trends. Social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok will help connect you and your eCommerce business with a wider audience through different channels. Instagram’s Shopping feature allows you to tag images with prices for your products, linking it directly to your website.
  • Purchasing ad space on social media platforms will get your eCommerce store and the products you sell into the social media universe (and on people’s minds!). Now, you don’t have to take out ad space either, but consistently showcasing your products on Instagram Stories or Reels will alter the algorithm to show more of your content. TikTok’s short-form video content also offers a great way to share products new and old, allowing for more new inventory or restocks in the future.

Protect your business with insurance

  • More sales and inventory comes with more liability and risk of a claim (as they say, more money, more problems.) Having business insurance can protect your business if something happens with your inventory or if a customer has an injury with your product. Plus, online marketplaces, like Amazon, often require business owners to show proof of insurance after a certain amount of revenue; this year’s Black Friday could push you over that limit. The last thing you’ll want to worry about after the sales rush is insurance - future you will thank you!

Foxquilt can get you insured, meet all vendor requirements and protect your business from liability today. It’s all online so you can get insured whenever, wherever. Get started today!
